Decapitated Trump Image on Movie Poster Ignites Controversy at Cannes

When Women Rule the World is science fiction B-movie and it probably wouldn’t be getting too much attention under normal circumstances. However, the crew behind the schlockfest are making waves at Cannes with a poster of a woman holding two decapitated heads. That’s really not that big of deal, but one of the heads looks a lot like President Donald Trump and some people are not very happy about seeing their president portrayed that way, even if it is all just satire.

Writer/director/producer Sheldon Silverstein is the man behind When Women Rule the World, which he describes as satire. The movie takes place in the future after Donald Trump started the apocalypse with World War III, which was sparked after a genitalia comparing contest between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The poster for the movie features a woman holding what looks like Trump’s head, complete with his famous red Make America Great Again hat. The yellow hair is also a pretty good indication that they want us to believe it’s Trump. The tagline for the poster reads, “Meet the First Lady of the Future with her Heads of State.”

The official synopsis for When Women Rule the World makes it seem like it might be pretty enjoyable. Time travel, science fiction elements, political humor, environmental ruin humor, and a whole lot more. There’s a little bit for everybody in this B-movie, which is quickly gaining some momentum, thanks in part to its controversial poster causing controversy at Cannes. You can read the official synopsis below.

“Reality-show mogul Michael Bray and his Russian fiancé, Maria Putin – along with Susan Tolby, Michael’s tough associate producer, and Jon Dawson, brilliant nerd and social media guru – are driving to Las Vegas to begin production of their latest TV series, ‘Showgirl Wars.’ They blunder into a time vortex and are transmitted to the future, 2121 A.D, after Trump has pushed the button, and World War Three and climate change have decimated life on earth.”

Trump has yet to respond to When Women Rule the World, but one can easily see him doing so during one of his early morning tweet storms. With that being said, the president has a lot on his plate at the moment with continuing investigations into his finances and the ever present Mueller report. Trump cut a meeting with Democratic leaders short this morning, declaring he won’t work with them until they stop investigating him.

Donald Trump has come up a few times by the entertainment industry over the past few days. Robert De Niro recently called for his impeachment and imprisonment at the American Icon Awards, which was given a mixed response of cheers and boos. Scenes from When Women Rule the World have been screened, but the project is still looking for distribution, as of this writing.
