Ezra Miller Is Still Getting His Flash Standalone Movie?

Posted 2019/06/23 8 0

It looks like the long awaited Flash movie might be happening after all. Ezra Miller’s contract with Warner Bros. expired back in May and many just assumed he was done with the project after building it up for years. Plus, there have been rumors of behind-the-scenes disagreements over the story, with some believing that Miller walked away from the Flash movie. Fans have been waiting a long time to see the Scarlet Speedster on the big screen again, and it looks like it might be happening soon.

The Flash movie is reportedly on hold while Ezra Miller finishes off Fantastic Beasts 3. Once he is done with that, it is believed he will be suiting up, according to a new report. DC fans have been told this before and the movie has still yet to materialize. Seeing Justice League come out and tank was not good for the studio, which has sent it back to the drawing board as it tries to get away from the shared universe with its upcoming slate.

While Ezra Miller was out promoting Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, he was positive about the situation. The actor has been promising the standalone Flash movie for years now and he is more than likely sick of getting asked about it by this point. When asked about the project less than a year ago, Miller had this to say.

“Anyone who knows anything about Barry Allen knows that he’s always late. But then when he arrives, he gets stuff done. And that’s definitely how this film’s production schedule is proceeding. We’re a little late. But the reason why we are late, and this is the honest to god truth… We’re all – and I include myself in this – we are very meticulously focused on making a movie that’s not just one of the greatest superhero movies that we can possibly make. This movie’s also going to be a gift to the fans.”

A lot of things can change in a short amount of time. A few months after Ezra Miller revealed the Flash movie was still on the way, reports began to surface about the actor clashing with new directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein over the script. Apparently, Miller is looking to make a darker and grittier movie, which is not what Goldstein and Daley had in mind.

Now that some time has passed, we should be getting an update about the long awaited Flash movie in the near future. At the very least, Ezra Miller might be able to confirm he is still prepared to play the character on the big screen, even though his holding contract with Warner Bros. has expired. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see what the future has planned for the Flash movie. Variety was the first to report about the Ezra Miller and Flash news.
